MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County School System announced last week that the system was recommended for continued accreditation by AdvancED following the accrediting organization’s Engagement Team visit on Jan. 28-30.

All schools in the system conducted a self-evaluation prior to the team’s visit that included a School Quality Diagnostic tool, observations of all classrooms, and surveys of all stakeholders.

Keith Shaffer, area director for AdvancED in the Southeast USA Region, notified Colquitt County School Superintendent Doug Howell that the system would be recommended for accreditation when action is taken at the AdvancED Global Commission meeting on March, 29.

AdvancED provides nationally-recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance. To earn accreditation, schools must meet AdvancED’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school, and implement a continuous process of school improvement. Accreditation is granted on a five-year term.

“The accreditation process is a laser-focused, evidence-based search for continuous student achievement, safe and rigorous learning environments, and highly qualified educators maintaining efficient and effective learning atmospheres. We are proud to share that the AdvancED team was successful in their search. We will continue our quest of Each Day — Excellence In Every Way!” Howell said.

AdvancED accreditation is recognized across state lines, which not only eases the transfer process as students move from accredited school to accredited school but also assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

Mark Elgart, president and CEO of AdvancED, stated, “AdvancED Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners. The Colquitt County School System is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”
