MOULTRIE, Ga. — Crossroads Gospel Mission is coming off a productive 2018 year which saw the charity’s leaders insert Dr. Randy Benner as president and upgrade the Crossroads Mission house. Now, in the first half of 2019, they’ve appointed vice president Caleb Davis as the facility’s new director.
“We’re excited to have someone who is young and has a passion to see peoples lives change through the gospel,” Benner said. “We could have searched all around the world and we wouldn’t have found anyone as qualified as Caleb.
“The board is extremely excited about his passion, his love for God and the people,” he added. “We are happy because it’s a big step in the right direction for Crossroads.”
Raised in a single parent home, Davis credits his mother for his love for the Lord. He said he remembers going to church as early as 9 years old.
At the age of 24, Davis has his own business, CD Lawn Care; he became a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, and he’s married to the love of his life. As he takes on another challenge as director for Crossroads Gospel Mission, he said he has taken a step back in his own business to ensure this gets the proper time it requires.
“The only thing I can say is that it is an answered prayer, but at the same time it’s humbling to know everything I prayed for is happening right in front of me,” Davis said. “I’ve been in business for myself nine years full time. My heart has always leaned towards doing ministry but working for myself made it hard because I didn’t have the time. Now I can devote my time and my life to pouring into these guys one on one. I knew the Lord was calling me somewhere; I just didn’t know it would be here.”
As director Davis wants to strengthen the relationships between life coaches and members of the mission house as he feels that it’s the most important aspect of Crossroads. The bond between man and his life coach is the difference between someone being saved or falling back to their old ways, he said.
“The biggest thing we implemented last year was the life coaches,” he said, “and we had a lot of loose ends and a lot of things falling through with them.
“We want to improve the connection between life coaches and the residents. So now our biggest thing is our life coaches because we believe our residents need someone in their life to mentor them and help them form a life plan and most importantly to walk beside them and love on them.”
