MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie man who showed up at the hospital Saturday night with a gunshot wound to the foot told police he was shot during a robbery attempt.

Moultrie police were dispatched at about 8:45 p.m. to Colquitt Regional Medical Center after Eddie Lee McIntyre Jr. arrived there with a gunshot wound.

McIntyre, 35, told police that a man he did not know agreed to give him a ride from Sylvester Drive to his father’s residence on Ninth Avenue Northeast.

“He was supposed to pay the guy $10,” Moultrie Police Department Sgt. Eric Hill said. “Once they got to his father’s residence he got out, was going to give him $10. The guy pulled a gun and asked for his wallet.”

McIntyre told police that a struggle ensued.

“The gun discharged and he realized he had been shot in the foot,” Hill said.

McIntyre was unable to give a description of the man or car, police said. No evidence of an assault — such as a spent cartridge or blood — were found at the location.

The incident remains under investigation, Hill said.
