Packer Invitational held Saturday

MOULTRIE – Starr’s Mill High School out of Fayette County played early and played quite well Saturday at the annual Colquitt County High Packer Invitational golf tournament at Sunset Country Club.

Starr’s Mill won as a team by 17 strokes at 291 with the top two individual scores. Kyle Bachkosky was the only golfer to go below par over 18 holes at 71, and Luke Phillips was the only one to come in at even-par 72.

West Forsyth was second at 308 with its top two players being Peyton Balent (73) and Jason Quinlan (74). After that it was Glynn Academy third at 311, Brookwood of Thomasville fourth at 316 and three schools – Tift County, defending champion Columbus and neighbor Northside-Columbus – tied for fifth at 317.

Host Colquitt County had a team score of 349. Tanner Brown led with a round of 80, and brother Tucker Brown scored 84. Senior Lance Blanchett carded 85 in the first event this season for the Packers that wasn’t played with some rain.
