‘Spring Into Wellness’ event set for Saturday
DALTON, Ga. — On Saturday area residents have a chance to learn more about healthy lifestyles at “Spring Into Wellness.” The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. at the Mack Gaston Community Center. Participants can have free vascular screenings, glucose/blood sugar finger sticks, as well as blood pressure and weight checks. There will also be yoga demonstrations with opportunities for participation, sessions on hydration and healthy eating on a budget. Information and resources for mental health, HIV, hepatitis C, women’s health, abuse, trafficking, sources for lower cost medications, housing, emergency financial support and family support will be provided. Sponsored by St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and DEO Clinic, this free event will help people connect better with local health resources. The Mack Gaston Community Center is at 218 N. Expo to host spring arts and crafts show
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Calico Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be Saturday and Sunday at Spence Field in Moultrie. Located just four miles southeast of Highway 319 on Highway 133, the annual show offers fine arts, handmade crafts, and hand decorated items as well as a wide selection of mouth-watering food and refreshments. A variety of artisans and craftsmen from across the Southeast will offer unique, handmade crafts. This one-stop shopping extravaganza allows you the opportunity to shop just in time for Easter, Mother’s Day, spring weddings and graduations. Vendors will have food, and the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society will also be on site adopting out furry “furever” friends all day Saturday. In addition, talented artist Julie Godwin of Florida will be painting faces. Hours on Saturday are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. HCSO conducting license, vehicle checkpoints
JASPER, Fla. — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting driver license and vehicle inspection checkpoints from April 1 until June 30 in Hamilton County. Recognizing the danger presented to the public by defective vehicle equipment, deputies will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated with defects such as bad brakes, worn tires and defective lighting equipment. In addition, attention will be directed to drivers who would violate the driver’s license laws of Florida. The Sheriff’s Office has found these checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing the equipment and driver license laws of Florida while ensuring the protection of all motorist. The checkpoints will be: U.S. Highway 41, County Road 145, North West 16th Avenue, County Road 751, County Road 25A, State Road 6 West, State Road 6 East, County Road 141, County Road 143, County Road 51, County Road 249 and State Road 129.
