MOULTRIE, Ga. — Plans are shaping up for the Moultrie Federated Guild Vintage Market And 62nd Annual Antique Show to be held on March 15, 16 and 17 at Southern Regional Technical College on Veterans Parkway.
The show will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased from any guild member or from Sid’s Antiques and Gifts for $5 or at the show for $7.
New to the show this year is local boutique and vintage home decor store, The White Feather, owned by Judy and Lewis Woodward and located in the Sunset Plaza. The store carries both large antique furniture pieces and smaller vintage accent pieces, plus women’s clothing and accessories. The Woodwards’ goal with their store is to have something that will appeal to both men and women. They offer amenities like an area where a man can sit and watch television or browse items tailored to his interests and personal shopping assistance for women to help put together outfits with the right accessories. Most of the items in their collection of antiques have come from their own personal collection, Judy Woodward said.
“I’ve always had a passion for old stuff so what we have will always lean toward shabby chic, vintage and antiques,” her husband said.
Several vendors will be returning to the antique show this year, both local and out-of-state. Local vendors include Bob Howell, Sid’s Antiques & Gifts and Randy Gibbs. Sylvia Rowell with “Windsor House Antiques” of South Carolina will show items like crystal, silver and collectibles, and Pete Clapp of “A Silver Chest” of Florida will show fine silver pieces. More dealers returning this year include Legacy Rugs, Coleman’s Collectibles, Antiques by Wanda and The Gliding Goat.
Lunches will be available each day, along with homemade layer cakes, and there will be an Italian Night Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets for the dinner are available by calling Poole Harnage at 678-386-3967.
The “Soul Food Sunday” lunch will be catered by Chef V starting at 11 a.m. These tickets are available by calling Vanessa Hayes at 229-337-7248 or by email at chefv_personaltouch@hotmail.com. Reservations are required for the Sunday lunch.
Special guest speakers this year will include:
• Friday: At 11 a.m., Gidge Taylor, Moultrie Federated Guild member, will give a presentation, “Not Your Grandma’s Wingback Chair,” and at 2 p.m., Ned and Marian Jones of Dixie Dreams Farm will give a presentation, “Herbs and Products for Culinary and Medicinal Purposes.”
• Saturday: At 11 a.m., Lauri Jo Bennett of Lauri Jo’s Southern Style Canning will give a demonstration, “Cooking with Lauri Jo.”
In addition to the show, gift drawings will be held on Sunday afternoon. Participants do not have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are $5 each for a chance to win one of the following gifts: a $265 restaurant package; a $500 Turner’s Dress Shop gift certificate; a $200 Cranford’s Jewelers gift certificate; a $500 Zoom Teeth Whitening gift certificate; a Randy Gibbs painting; $200 Griner Jewelry gift certificate; a $200 Belk Department Store gift certificate; or a photography session and 11×14 portrait with Jill Stringfellow Photography. These tickets can be purchased from any guild member.
The antique show is Moultrie Federated Guild’s only fundraiser and benefits the community through various projects and programs. Without the support from community leaders and sponsors, the show would not be possible, guild member and past chair Mary Vines said.
