LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Encourage state lawmakers to allow access to low THC oil

Imagine if your child or loved one had pneumonia or tuberculosis and the antibiotics used to treat those diseases were legal to possess in Georgia, but ILLEGAL to manufacture and transport across state lines.
Would you break the law to help your child or loved ones?

Of course, you would. But the current law shouldn’t force parents or care givers into this dilemma. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what the Georgia Legislature has done when it comes to Low THC Oil.
Many patients with severe medical needs such as late stage cancer and seizure disorders have undeniably benefited from Low THC Oil, which is legal to possess and use here in Georgia. Sadly, for the people that need it, there is no legal way to access Low THC Oil. State law does not allow it to be manufactured in Georgia and federal law prohibits it from being transported across state lines.
HB 324 has been introduced in the Georgia Legislature and would allow for the production of Low THC Oil by a small number of highly qualified, highly regulated operators in secure facilities that are monitored by 24-7 video available to law enforcement. This legislation will give patients the medicine they need without having to break the law and rely on the quality of Low THC Oil obtained from questionable sources.
Please contact your representatives and urge them to support HB 324.
