MOULTRIE, Ga. — Brooks Sheldon, Colquitt County Retired Educators (CCREA) 2018-2019 School Bell Award recipient, center, was honored at CCREA’s February meeting. Pictured with him are his wife, Janet Sheldon, left, and CCREA member Virginia Hart, right.
The CCREA School Bell Award is presented to distinguished members of Colquitt County whose outstanding contributions and leadership in education have had a positive impact on students and educators in the Colquitt County School System.
As a mentor, Sheldon worked with older students as well as students in alternative educational programs in Colquitt County. He served on the state Community In Schools (CIS) board for several years, and in 1999 CIS took the lead to organize the Colquitt County Family Collaborative on Children and Families.
