Gilley is accused of being involved in a series of burglaries in Thomas County dating back to at least December, as well as breaking into the county’s impound yard.

Gilley faces numerous charges in other Georgia counties and is also wanted in Palm Beach and Flagler counties in Florida for probation violation.

On Jan. 4, an enclosed trailer was stolen from a Stewart Road residence in Thomas County. Three days later, several firearms were taken in a Stewart Road residential burglary.

Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator, said one of the firearms was used in a Decatur County shooting. The person charged in the shooting told authorities he got the gun from Gilley.

The enclosed trailer stolen in Thomas County was found at Gilley’s Grady County residence and impounded at the Jail-Justice Center in Thomasville.

Watkins said property stolen from a Brooks County judge’s residence in Brooks County was found in the trailer.

On the night of the day the trailer was impounded, stolen property was taken from the trailer.

Surveillance video showed Gilley removing items from the trailer, Watkins said, adding that the suspect crawled under the impound fence.

Gilley, who allegedly traveled under numerous false identities, was believed to be a risk to flee the state.

“He’s been flying under the radar,” said Capt. Steven Jones of the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office. “There’s no telling how many other crimes he’s committed between here and Statesboro.”

On Feb. 6, the U.S. Marshal Service Task Force was asked to help apprehend the fugitive.

Gilley was charged with one felony count of theft by taking, two counts of burglary and one felony count of tampering with evidence in Thomas County alone.

A joint team consisting of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and the Cairo Police Department executed a search warrant Feb. 5 at Gilley’s residence.

Law enforcement seized multiple items believed to be stolen by Gilley following a search of the property at 303 Crescent Circle SW.

“We found there was another stolen trailer in his yard,” Watkins said.

Katina Jones, who resides at the address where the search warrant was executed, was taken into custody on charges of theft by receiving stolen property.

Roger Adams Jr. was taken into custody when police searched a vehicle registered under his name at the site of the search warrant and discovered marijuana and a substance believed to be ecstasy.

“He wasn’t really connected to any of it,” said Capt. Chris Luckey of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office, the arresting officer. “He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

A police report states Adams “essentially admitted to possession of both controlled substances” and was taken into custody.

Gilley was transported from the Bulloch County Jail to Thomas County Wednesday night.

Luckey said law enforcement had identified Gilley and attempted to arrest him over the weekend, but he fled the area.

“He went on the run, but they were able to apprehend him in Statesboro,” Luckey said.
