VALDOSTA — Five people arrested in a September armed robbery and kidnapping case have been indicted on multiple counts by the Lowndes County Grand Jury, according to court documents.
Zakia Carter, 19, Samuel Thomas, 26, Jermario Smith, 23, Dexter Harper, 31, and Amyia Wilson, 17, were all indicted on counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery during the grand jury session last week, according to an indictment list.
A report states at 11:26 p.m., Sept. 17, officers met with an 18-year-old who said he went to the New Valdosta Inn to meet people.
When he arrived at the motel, the teen was attacked, according to the report. During the assault, he was forced to get into a vehicle. They went to another location where they forced the teen to give them property.
The teen was taken back to the motel and eventually released with superficial injuries, the report stated. He was later treated at the hospital.
Officers received assistance from the Valdosta Bureau of Investigative Services Person’s Crimes Unit detectives and crime-scene technicians from the Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory.
