WoodSongs Dalton Concert Series kicks off Saturday
DALTON, Ga. — The WoodSongs Dalton 2019 Concert Series hosts award-winning singer-songwriter Donna Ulisse with the Poor Mountain Boys and Spatial Effects at 7 p.m. on Saturday at The Wink Theater in downtown Dalton. Ulisse is no stranger to Dalton, having performed here several times. Country music fans may remember Ulisse from her days when she was signed to Atlantic Records in the early 1990s where she released the critically acclaimed album “Trouble at The Door” with three singles and two videos. She was also a guest on many national television shows including “Hee Haw,” “Nashville Now,” “Crook & Chase” and NBC’s “Hot Country Nights.” The concert also honors the Girl Scouts of America in Northwest Georgia. Girls Scouts will be admitted to the concert free if wearing their sash or vest. FGC, Nutrien partner for summer camps
LAKE CITY, Fla. — Florida Gateway College announced last week a partnership with White Springs agricultural products manufacturer Nutrient to offer a larger variety of summer camps for children this summer. This year’s lineup will feature 12 camps for six weeks beginning in June. Each camp will cover a wide array of activities and disciplines for youth, ages 8-16. Last year Nutrient sponsored the college’s Girl Power Leadership Camp and decided to expand their sponsorship to include all 12 camps. “We feel that youth camps are helpful in the successful of young people in our area and are more than happy to lend our assistance,” said Mike Williams, Issues Manager at Nutrien. All camps run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. two days a week. The camps will begin the week of June 10 and last through the week of July 22. The price to attend will be $50 per student per camp. The summer camps FGC is providing this summer, which is subject to change, are: Fishing Mission 2018, Leadership Camp, S.T.E.M., Theater, FGC Volleyball Camp, FGC Basketball Camp, Dance/Cheer, Cross Country/Running, FGC Golf Camp, FGC Soccer Camp, Public Safety Training Camp and Environmental Science.
