LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Sons of American Legion to receive charter Jan. 24

Published 3:11 pm Saturday, January 19, 2019

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” The Moultrie American Legion Sons Squadron 324 thanks the community, organizations, and individuals that are helping to start our new squadron here and to further train our boys and men as leaders and followers in our blessed community. Many have helped us promote, raise funds and contact candidates for selection to our squadron.

Our Sons squadron participate in programs that will result in increasing their patriotism, community and church service and education and strengthen their faith to lead in our military and community. Such programs as Boys State, fund-raising for worthwhile causes, and remembering our military ancestors in services and flag placements are ongoing programs in our squadron, district, state and national hierarchy. We would also like to thank The Observer for their diligent help in building our new squadron and promoting our many functions and events.

An upcoming event is the award of our national charter and recognition of our 15 charter members by our district and incoming state commanders on Jan. 24th at the history museum and we would like to invite anyone (873-1108) who qualifies by either legion or military ancestry to come to our celebration and apply to further build our squadron. We look forward to establishing our squadron meetings within our school systems and have obtained 2 drones for our young boys to enjoy prior to our history museum meetings. Thank you all for your ongoing substantial support of our worthy endeavors and squadron of men and boys.
