Diabetes seminar slated for Dalton

DALTON, Ga. — Organizers say those who have been diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or anyone at high risk for diabetes, such as being overweight, should be interested in the Reversing Type II Diabetes seminar that begins Monday, Feb. 4, in the Learning Tree Elementary School gymnasium, 300 S. Tibbs Road in Dalton. Attendees will learn how to live so medications and insulin can be reduced or eliminated altogether, how to reverse the complications of diabetes such as cardiovascular disease and how to lose weight without being hungry. The seminar will meet once a week on Monday evenings from 6 to 8, finishing on March 11. Cattle deaths lead to withdraw of Purina feed

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has begun investigations into multiple reports of acute cattle deaths that were received this past week. Although no cause has been determined yet during the investigation by the Division of Agricultural Environmental Services and the Division of Animal Industry in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies and veterinarians, the deaths may be related to feed. According to FDACS, the feed in question is Producer’s Pride 20% All Natural Cattle Cube, lot number 8DEC22MUL2. The Purina Animal Nutrition feed was distributed to 40 Tractor Supply Company stores in Florida and Georgia, including the Live Oak store. Other locations are: Starke, Fort Pierce, Saint Cloud, Chiefland, Lake Wales, Sebring, Okeechobee, Eustis, Haines City, Newberry, Bradenton, Palatka, Wauchula, Zephyrhills, Deland, Lake City, Orlando, Arcadia, Dunnellon, Fort Myers, Saint Augustine, Jacksonville, Homosassa, Macclenny, Bartow, Perry, Groveland, Gainesville, Cocoa, Osteen, North Fort Myers, Loxahatchee, Crawfordville, Palm Coast, Hudson, Sarasota, Port Charlotte and Riverview as well as Kingsland, Ga. Tractor Supply has voluntarily removed the product from all 40 stores. In addition, Purina Animal Nutrition has initiated a voluntary market withdrawal of the affected product. Consumers may discard the product or return it to their retail purchase location for exchange or refund. Identity thief hacks woman’s phone, steals $4,500

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County woman reported that information hacked from her phone had been used to make charges to her accounts and even apply for a credit card. Mai Dao, of the 200 block of Howard Roland Road, told police Monday that someone had hacked the SIM card information from her phone. By doing so the hacker got access to her identification and financial information. Funds totaling $4,500 had been transferred out of her accounts, Dao told police, and someone applied for a Wal-Mart card using her information.

Billy Joel Tribute Show at Tift Theatre on January 19
