THOMASVILLE — The man who robbed a Synovus bank branch Saturday morning parked the getaway vehicle at a nearby business, walked to the bank branch, committed the robbery, walked briskly back to the white sedan and got away, according to authorities.

Police are processing items from the crime scene to identify the suspect.

The note that demanded money from a teller was taken by the robber.

The man, dressed in business attire and wearing a toboggan and sunglasses, entered the bank at 8:59 a.m., took about $2,000 in $100 bills and walked briskly to the get-away vehicle parked in the nearby Belk parking lot.

The incident was over in 30 to 45 seconds.

“His calm manner would make one believe he has done something similar before,” said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

The suspect, who did not display a firearm, made statements in the bank that he would harm people if he had to, according to police.

The robber entered the bank — at East Pinetree Boulevard and Remington Avenue — through a door on the south side of the building and exited through the same door.

Surveillance video from nearby businesses is being viewed in an attempt to better identify the vehicle and suspect. The video showing the sedan was recorded by Belk.

The same bank was robbed Nov. 9, 2016. An arrest was never made.
