CAIRO — Grady General Hospital was recently ranked Georgia’s finest small hospital.

The 60-bed facility landed the top spot in Georgia Trend Magazine’s 2018 Top Hospital list.

The rankings were compiled by analyzing publicly reported data from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) from August.

“It is such an honor to be recognized as Georgia Trend’s number one small hospital in the state,” said Crystal Wells, Grady General administrator. “Our staff is dedicated to providing the citizens of Grady County the best care possible every time they walk through our doors. We’re honored to be recognized for this sustained focus.”

John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Grady General’s sister facility, landed eighth on the rankings of the state’s best large hospitals.

“Archbold and Grady General continue to earn recognition for their commitment to providing outstanding care,” said Perry Mustain, president and CEO of Archbold Medical Center. “I’m very proud of our teams and physicians at both hospitals.”

The CMS data, analyzed by Augusta University professor Mark A. Thompson, was used to score hospitals on clinical process, patient experience, outcomes and efficiency.

Hospitals are classified as “small” if they have fewer than 100 beds and “large” if they have greater than 250 beds. Bed sizes were tabulated by the American Hospital Directory.

Earlier this year, Grady General and Archbold Memorial earned “double 4-star” ratings from CMS for overall rating and patient experience, the only hospitals in the region to receive such a classification.
