MOULTRIE, Ga. — When Hurricane Michael barreled through Southwest Georgia in October, some areas were smashed while others appeared to have little damage. Now, the Moultrie Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce wants to find out how bad the businesses in Colquitt County were affected by the storm.
The chamber is distributing a survey from Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission and the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. The distribution is a combined effort of several chambers of commerce and other economic development organizations across Southwest Georgia.

The goal of the survey is to see how businesses were impacted by Hurricane Michael economically and physically. Information given will be used to better understand the economic impact of the storm, and organizers hope it will help prepare Southwest Georgia for the next time a storm comes.
Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber President Tommie Beth Willis thinks the survey can help Colquitt County over the long term, so she encourages local businesses to participate.
“The Albany chamber had some adversity they faced the last couple years with the last few storms,” said Willis. “So what we decided to do is see what type of economic impact did this storm have, and we are asking all businesses whether you are a member of the chamber or not to participate. All the information provided will flow back to the Albany chamber, and they will send back the information for Colquitt County so we can use that information to help in different ways.”
Deadline to finish the survey is Friday, and the information will be compiled by January 2019. If your business wasn’t sent an email containing the survey link, visit www.moultriechamber.com to complete one.
