Order of the Eastern Star grand chapter to celebrate Founders Day in Hartsfield

HARTSFIELD, Ga. — On Sunday, Nov. 25, Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Jurisdiction of Georgia will celebrate 120 years of service by honoring its founders. Throughout the state of Georgia Prince Hall Grand Chapter Districts will be joining in this commemoration of 120 years of service by worshipping together in churches across the state.

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1899, 18 representatives from nine of the 13 original Eastern Star Chapters met in Savannah to organize themselves into a Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star for the State of Georgia, according to a press release from the grand chapter.

Leaders at this momentous occasion were the Honorable Brother W. E. Terry, Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Master, and the Honorable Sol. C. Johnson, Right Worshipful Grand Secretary of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Union Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Georgia, the grand chapter said.

“For over 120 years of service to humanity, the Prince Hall Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star members have taken an active part in every worthwhile endeavor that tended to elevate mankind to higher heights through service, leadership, and giving millions of dollars in scholarships,” the press release said.

On Sunday, Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star will give more than $7,000 in donations to churches and other charitable                       causes.

In celebration of Founder’s Day, Bainbridge District No. 12 and Thomasville District No. 10 will worship together at 11 a.m. at Sinner Friend Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 Perryman Road, Hartsfield. The Rev. W.B. Sales is the church pastor and Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge Jurisdiction of Georgia.
