Most Popular

LIVE OAK, Fla. — It’s almost Thanksgiving and the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park and Old Tyme Farm Days and Swap Meet is the place to be on that special weekend Nov. 22-24.

Since 1989 Old Tyme Farm Days has been celebrating rural American life and heritage by bringing the skills and lifestyle of the 19th Century back to life. The festival is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; swap meet from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Admission is $10 per day per carload for non-campers.

The Music Park’s weekend begins with family and friends joining together for Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 22 at noon in the Music Hall. Those wishing to attend are asked to bring a large covered dish to share, pay $5 per person at the door and the SOSMP will provide the main course, eating utensils and beverages.

The Old Tyme Farm Days and Swap Meet will then be available Friday and Saturday to help work off that big Thanksgiving dinner. Featured will be a tractor pull, antique equipment and exhibits, soap making, arts and crafts, tractor parade, quilting demonstration, food vendors, homemade ice cream, jams and jellies, Kettle Korn, petting zoo, kids’ games, Kids’ Music Expo and Instrument Petting Zoo all weekend presented by the Suwannee Spirit Kids Music Camp and more. Children have the opportunity to attend a free music camp during the weekend just like those held three times a year at the SOSMP.

There will be an antique farm equipment auction Saturday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. Anyone that has antique farm equipment to auction should contact JW Hill & Associates at 386-362-3300 or John Hill at 386-590-1314. John Hill will be the auctioneer.

Canning done the old fashion way is on display at the Farm Days and Swap Meet and for sale. Looking for some yummy homemade ice cream? It’s here! Collecting antiques? There will be a little of everything including woodworking, maybe old and new crocheted items and so many unique finds. The event has grown enormously over the years, yet it’s not so big that someone can’t walk around easily, and the vendors have time to talk about their products.

Thursday night there is karaoke in the Music Hall with TeddyMac. Doors open at 5 p.m. for supper, karaoke is 7-10 p.m. Come early and sign up to sing! Friday night is SoulShine Band live on the Music Hall Stage with Saturday night showcasing Lizz Faith and Mama’s Kin Band. Doors to the Music Hall open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday night for supper, music begins at 8 p.m. Free admission to the Music Hall.
