Suspect outruns police once, but not twice

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A man accused of threatening a group of people on Nov. 2 while brandishing a pistol was arrested Nov. 7 after eluding police on foot the night of the reported incident.

Police chased down Kenny Flemming Jr. Nov. 7 after locating him at a West Central Avenue convenience store.

Darlene Lewis reported at about 2:23 a.m. Nov. 2 that Flemming had displayed a firearm and made threats to people at a residence in the 100 block of  Fourth Street Southwest..

“He accused them of stealing some drugs from him,” Moultrie Police Department Lt. Freddie Williams said. “He threatened to shoot everyone in the room.”

Officers spotted Flemming in the area where the reported assault took place but he got away.

“He threw a .22-caliber pistol down as he was running away from the officers,” Williams said.

When police caught up with Flemming at the convenience store at 11:27 a.m. on Nov. 7 he again ran from officers, Williams said.

“We were able to apprehend him a couple of blocks away,” he said. “Before we made contact with him he threw down suspected crack cocaine.”

Flemming, 50, 222 Sixth St. S.W., was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of cocaine and two counts obstruction of a police officer.
