Shonta Melton participates in state Teacher Advisory Council

ATLANTA — Willie J. Williams Middle School sixth grade reading teacher Shonta Melton, left, is shown with Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods during Woods’ Fall Teacher Advisory Council meeting at The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. This council is comprised of 150 teachers from more than 75 school districts across the state of Georgia; each teacher was nominated for membership by school administrators, RESA, GaDOE, or local central office directors due to their outstanding educational service qualities. Melton is the Colquitt County representative and has served on the council for six years. She began her service to the council as Tift County’s Teacher of the Year in 2013.
