LIVE OAK, Fla. — It’s been two straight winning seasons for the Suwannee High girls soccer team and this year looks to be even better.
The Bulldogs bring back the majority of their starting lineup. They return leading goal scorer Baylor Burch and are strong in all positions.
“Baylor Burch is in her senior year. She is an excellent midfielder and attacker,” said first-year SHS head coach Sarah Grillo, who previously coached club teams in South Florida before moving to Live Oak.
“We’ve got a couple new freshman to look for. Emma Rae Byers is very athletic, very talented.”
Senior Joy Brett is another talented midfielder who is back with the team.
Brett, Burch, Hayley Gray, Courtney Sasso, Bethany Mabey, Stephanie Duarte and Carson Frier all saw significant playing time last season and are back with the team.
Frier, a four-sport athlete at SHS, will be in goal for Suwannee this season.
Suwannee played its annual Green and White scrimmage on Saturday. SHS begins the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Hamilton County.
