TIFTON — Early voting has officially ended for the November midterm elections.

“This is the last day of early voting and we have seen numbers bigger than we ever expected,” said Dollison. “During early voting we have had voters voting for the first time ever and today we had lines to the door. The last voter finished voting at 5:40 p.m.”

The total number of voters for Nov. 2 was 850, which was the largest turnout of any of the early voting days.

Any registered voters who have not voted will need to vote at their assigned polling location, which can be found by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.

If the turnout trend continues as it has for the early voting period, voter turnout may exceed turnout in any midterm since 1990, according to data gathered from the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, where election data from 1988 is collected for the public to view.

In the 2014 midterm election, a total of 8,687 people voted, which was 44.53 percent of registered voters.

Total turnout numbers were not available for previous years, but ballots cast for governor were able to be pulled.

In 2010, a total of 9,745 ballots were cast in the governor’s race.

The 2006 race saw a total of 8,500 ballots cast. 2002 and 1998 saw similar numbers, 7,741 in 2002 and 7,794 in 1998.

There were 7,310 votes cast for governor in the 1994 midterm, and 1990 comes in last with 6,083 votes counted.

Voting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at one of 12 polling places.
