“It’s always a good thing to beat Taylor County. It’s a rivalry game we’ve played for a long time. A huge night.”

Suwannee senior running back Carlton Hall eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season with a huge game. He ran for a career-high 209 yards on 31 carries, with touchdown runs of 6, 24 and 23 yards.

After some good defense by both teams in the first half, Suwannee exploded in the third quarter for 20 points.

Hall’s physical running style and Suwannee’s big offensive line wore down Taylor County as SHS possessed the ball most of the second half.

“Offensively, the guys kept plugging,” said Kyler Hall. “They (Taylor County) kind of schemed to take stuff away we’ve being doing the last two weeks. We went back to our base offense and just started running the ball. Offensive line played great.”

A big play at the end of the first half is what got Suwannee rolling.

Suave White hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tyree Taylor as time expired in the second quarter to give SHS a 6-0 lead heading into the half.

“Once we got that touchdown it kind of loosened everyone up,” said White, a senior.

It was a memorable night for White and the entire Bulldogs squad.

Not only did they win in style on Senior Night, the Bulldogs snapped a two-year playoff drought thanks to an excellent all-around game.

Even after some tough losses and facing a lot of adversity this season, Suwannee was able to get to the postseason.

“We had a lot of doubts throughout the season, but we came together the whole season to push through it,” said White. “I never lost faith in us. This is amazing.”

Taylor County (5-5) quarterback Da’Corian Bellamy threw for 187 yards, but Suwannee’s defense stepped up when it mattered most.

Suwannee (6-4) had an important goal-line stand at the end of the first half and then the offense marched down the field for a touchdown.

Suwannee also won the turnover battle. SHS forced four turnovers, including a Jaquez Moore 33-yard interception return for a touchdown.
