MOULTRIE, Ga. — You’ve never seen a child so excited to get a shoebox.

Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief organization with the goal of meeting the needs of various people through various projects. It sponsors Operation Christmas Child, which delivers shoeboxes filled with donated school supplies, toys, hygiene products, clothes and more.

After a year hiatus, Operation Christmas Child is again collecting shoeboxes of gifts from the Moultrie area, according to Samaritan’s Purse media relations assistant manager Dana Williams.

“According to my data there wasn’t an area team here last year so it seems like they are part of a new team,” said Williams. “But I am very excited about being apart of spreading the name and love of Jesus around by helping others, and I hope we can get a good amount of stuff to give.”

Mt. Olive Baptist Church will serve as the drop-off point for boxes in the Moultrie area. There are also participating locations in Adel, Tifton, Cario, Pelham, and Thomasville.

If you don’t know what you want to put in a shoebox, there are suggestions at www.samaritanspurse.org, or you can purchase a “build your own” shoebox at the same website.

Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week will take place Nov. 12-19.
