Shine a light on those helping after Michael

In her letter to the editor above, Rebecca Blalock raises an important question: Why is the community not supporting the Southwest Georgians who were impacted so severely by Hurricane Michael?

At The Observer, we suspect the answer is: We are. But many angels of mercy are going unnoticed.

If you know of a local organization or individuals who are providing relief, either within Colquitt County or elsewhere, please let us know.

In the past week we’ve profiled an effort to get supplies to the Florida coast and the Colquitt County Food Bank, which needs more support now as it works to meet the needs of people who lost food or income to the storm.

We’re glad to shine a light on whoever is working to make life better for those who’ve been hurt.
