MOULTRIE, Ga. — The victim in a Moultrie death investigation has been identified as a Florida teen-ager.
Jakayla Anderson, 16, died of a gunshot wound to the head Tuesday, Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock said on Thursday.
An autopsy was performed on Thursday at a Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Macon.
Brock said that investigators with the GBI have not notified him of the manner in which Anderson died. Apparently foul play is not suspected.
Anderson lived in St. Petersburg and had been in Moultrie about two weeks staying with relatives, Brock said. He did not know whether she had enrolled in school in Colquitt County.
The Moultrie Police Department requested the GBI’s assistance after responding to a residence in the 1200 block of 12th Street Northwest.
