DALTON, Ga. — The Whitfield County woman charged with murdering her father after reportedly shooting him twice in the head is scheduled for a bond hearing Friday morning before Chief Superior Court Judge William T. Boyett.
Hannah Celese Henderson, 25, was charged with murder (family violence) in the death of her father, 50-year-old George Samuel Henderson, following a shooting Saturday night at 4045 S. Dixie Highway. She was also charged by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Hannah Henderson has been held without bond in the county jail since she was booked Sunday afternoon. According to the Clerk of Superior Court’s office, she does not have an attorney listed.
Hannah Henderson called 911 shortly before midnight on Saturday and told an operator she had shot her father. When asked why, she said, “Because he was molesting my son. I walked in and saw him.” A news release from Sheriff Scott Chitwood, however, said the “evidence collected at the scene did not support” Hannah Henderson’s version of events.
The news release said George Henderson died from “multiple gunshot wounds,” and the sheriff’s office said he was shot twice in the head. According to the audio recording of Hannah Henderson’s call to 911 obtained by the Daily Citizen-News through an open records request, she admitted to shooting her father in the head. She said the gun was “a .38, I think.”
An incident report provided by the sheriff’s office said a “black in color pistol” was found beside George Henderson’s body in the kitchen of the residence in the southern end of the county.
“We were arguing and we were fighting and the gun was there and we were fighting over it and I shot him because I thought he was going to shoot me,” said Hannah Henderson in the 911 call. She said she carried the gun because she operates a food truck.
George Henderson’s sister denied that her brother would ever hurt his grandchild.
“The allegations that she is accusing him of are very untrue,” Frankie Shipman said. “My brother … that child was his entire world. I know his name has been smeared by her and I can bring over 100 people who could testify to how much his grandbaby meant to him. I just want the public to know that those allegations are completely false. He would never hurt his grandbaby.”
