The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce has notified The Observer that it has canceled its participation in Saturday’s 100-Mile Peanut Pickin Yard Sale following Hurricane Michael earlier this week.
Individuals may still be set up along the route, which includes Highway 33 from Sylvester and Highway 133 through Berlin and on toward Quitman, but the chamber’s site at the city utilities department has been canceled.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Of three events scheduled for Saturday, one is will go on as planned, one has been postponed, and the third is also on, at least in some places.
Connie Fritz, executive director of the Colquitt County Arts Center, said Friday that Artoberfest will still be held on the Courthouse Square 2-8 p.m. Saturday.
The fall arts celebration will feature works by artists and craftsmen from across Southwest Georgia as well as musical entertainment.
The Colquitt Christian Academy’s Pumpkin Patch 5K and Children’s Race, though, has already announced a postponement. The race has been tentatively rescheduled for Nov. 3, according to the CCA’s website, colquittchristian.org.
The CCA had planned an Adopt-A-Pumpkin event in conjunction with the race. The website says that event will now be held online. See the website for details.
Organizers of the 100 Mile Peanut Pickin Yard Sale have not made an actual announcement, but they have responded on their Facebook page to questions about whether the event is canceled.
The yard sale was planned to start by 8 a.m. Saturday along roadsides from Unadilla to Quitman, including through Moultrie and Berlin.
“I know Unadilla to Sylvester will have vendors,” the Facebook response said. “We don’t know how many will set up but it is still on. Vienna already has vendors set up in the square.”
Colquitt County’s branch of the yard sale is being coordinated by the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce. Efforts to reach the chamber by email and telephone on Friday were not successful.
