Thousands still without power

THOMASVILLE — Thousands of Thomasville Utilities (TU) electric customers’ power has been restored, but thousands remain in the dark.

Of TU’s 15,500 electric customers, 14,000 lost power when Hurricane Michael blew through the area Wednesday. Of those, about 5,000 had power restored by Friday morning.

One of Archbold Medical Center’s two electric feeders was restored Thursday, and power returned to the hospital, which had been operating on generators.

Metcalfe, Ga. 3, Stewart Road, Pine Park in Grady County, U.S. 84 East toward Boston, South Broad Street, Gordon Avenue, Old Monticello Road, Tuxedo Drive area, Balfour school area, Chatham Drive, Carroll Hill, Cassidy Road, Vashti area on East Clay Street and East Washington Street are without power.

“We anticipate to have most back on by Sunday,” said Chris White, TU assistant superintendent.

Five mutual aid crews from Tennessee, Monroe and Lawrenceville are in the city to help restore power.
