Bank robbery suspect in custody

TIFTON — A suspect has been arrested following a bank robbery at South Georgia Banking Company the morning of Oct. 2.
A Facebook post from South Georgia Banking Company states that the suspect was arrested and that the bank is reopened.
The Tifton Police Department is still investigating.
Earlier, the Board of Education office and Eighth Street Middle School were placed on lockdown after they were informed that the suspect had fled on foot in the direction of the school, which is behind the bank property.
The lockdown has since been lifted, according to Tift County Schools Chief Communications Officer Stacey Beckham.
