Thief grabs wallet after asking driver to give her money

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A thief who approached a motorist and asked for money took advantage of the situation by grabbing the driver’s wallet and running from the scene.

William Smith, 80, told police that he was driving through a parking lot at 11:39 a.m. in the 200 block of Sixth Street Southeast when an unknown female approached and asked for money, telling him she needed food.

Smith told the woman he had no money, but upon seeing his wallet in the car she grabbed it and ran toward First Avenue Southeast. He told police the thief had black hair and tattoos on her legs.

The value of the wallet and contents totaled $36, police said.

• Shanequa Randolph, first block McDonald Court Southeast, reported Tuesday the theft of an Insignia flat screen television valued at $50.

• Kenneth Snipes, 600 block Rondo Gay Road, reported Monday the theft of a tool box and tools valued at $400 and a cutting torch of unknown value.

• Julio Jimenez, 1800 block First Avenue Southeast, reported Tuesday the theft of property valued at $2,381 from the residence of Jose Domingus in the 100 block of Terry Baker Road, Norman Park.

The stolen property included $140, two Samsung Galaxy S cell phones, one each Samsung Galaxy 6, Galaxy 7 and Galaxy 8 phones, Huawei cell phone, book bag  and two Hugo Boss bottles of cologne.

• Moultrie-Colquitt County Recreation Authority, 1020 Fourth St. S.W., reported Tuesday the theft of items from the concession stand with a total value of $36.

• Emily Lindsey, 200 block Eighth Street Southeast, reported Monday the theft of property valued at $75 from a 1997 Nissan truck.

• Kervin Joquin Vicks, 36, 724-B Fifth St. N.W., was charged Tuesday with driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Kenyatta Lashiba Jackson, 38, 145 Carlton Road, Doerun, and Jacquelyne C. Walton, 22, 705 10th Ave. N.W., were each charged Monday with theft by shoplifting.

They are accused of shoplifting merchandise valued at $83 at Roses, 215 Sixth St. S.E.

• Ricky Shawn Conley, 39, 2493 U.S. Hwy. 82 E., Brookfield, Ga., was charged Monday with driving while license suspended or revoked and defective equipment.

• Christopher Martez Williams, 26, 401 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was charged with possession of marijuana.
