MOULTRIE, Ga. — A driver who reportedly pulled into the path of a police patrol car and the deputy driving that car were treated Monday for apparently minor injuries following an afternoon collision.

Miguel Lopez-Blasica, 20, was driving east on Gene McQueen Road in a 1996 Toyota 4Runner when he approached the stop sign at Highway 33 at about 4:44 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

After stopping, Lopez-Blasica pulled into the intersection and into the path of a 2015 Dodge Charger driven by Deputy Ivon Folsom, 28, of Moultrie.

The Charger struck the Toyota in the front left side, GSP reports said, before rotating clockwise and striking the deputy’s car again. Both cars then came to rest.

Two witnesses told police that Lopez-Blasica pulled out in front of the patrol car.

He was charged with failure to yield after stopping at stop sign.

Both drivers were transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and released a hospital spokeswoman said.
