The subject is a 30-year-old white male with an apparent gunshot wound, Brock said.
Brock did not tie the deceased man to the manhunt reported earlier, but they are in the same area and the GBI is investigating this man’s death.
Multiple comments on Nick Warnell’s Facebook Page indicate he is deceased.

BERLIN, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate a shooting incident in the area of Berlin Thursday night.
Our news partners at WALB reported about 9:45 p.m. that a manhunt was under way after an incident in which a Colquitt County deputy sheriff was hurt.

Around 10 p.m. the sheriff’s office announced a $5,000 reward for information about the whereabouts of Nick Warnell. The same post urged residents in the Cannon and Tillman Road areas between Berlin and Ellenton to make sure doors and windows are secure and urged them to report suspicious activity to 911 immediately.
About 90 minutes later, the sheriff’s office published a short Facebook post saying Warnell had been apprehended.
“We are not seeking any other suspects at this time,” the post read. “Law enforcement will remain in the area for the time being and we have no reason to believe any further threat exists in the immediate area.”
Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge of the GBI’s Thomasville office, emailed area media at 11:23 p.m.
“The GBI has been requested by the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a shooting incident that took place earlier tonight,” the email read.
“We were asked to be on standby earlier and were not involved until a short time ago,” it continued. “We have agents on scene at this time and more on the way including Crime Scene Units as there are multiple scenes.
“We do not have specific details to provide at this time but hope to be able to in a few hours.”
Citing unnamed investigators, WALB reported one officer was shot and another was hit with a vehicle, but numerous unofficial sources contradicted that statement. Efforts by The Observer and WALB to get further clarification from official sources were unsuccessful as of press time.
The deputy or deputies have not been identified, and their conditions are not available.
The story is continuing to develop, and updates will be posted on The Moultrie Observer’s website, www.moultrieobserver.com.
