Police: Man tried to hide $99 worth of meat in pants

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Norman Park man’s pants were looking like $100, but their value dropped considerably when concealed steaks and ground beef were removed from them.

When police arrived at Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., about 12:42 p.m. Friday, 38-year-od Larry Adam Conley was in custody. In an office, Conley and a store security officer removed four packs of ribeye steaks and three rolls of ground beef chuck from Conley’s pants, police said.

The value of the meat was just short of $99.

Conley was charged with theft by shoplifting.

The theft was caught on store video, police said.

Moultrie Police

• Rosa Dunbar, 65, reported Friday that someone stole a set of keys that she left on the counter of a convenience store in he 1000 block of First Avenue Southeast.

Store video showed a woman who was in line behind Dunbar pick up the keys and get in a gray SUV, police said.

• Nathan Hobgood, 1900 block West Boulevard, reported Saturday the theft of a bicycle valued at $75.

• Sonic, 807 First Ave. S.E., reported Saturday that after store officials found a cash register $25 short, a review of video showed an employee putting money in her waist band.

Arrest warrants will be taken, police said.

• Teresa Chastain, 7100 block Highway 37 West, Hartsfield, reported Wednesday the theft of an extension cord valued at $100.

• James Blaxton, 400 block Hopewell Church Road, reported Tuesday the theft of a Skil saw, Napa battery charger, window air conditioner and a lamp with a total value of $451.

• Cora Cannington, 100 block Country Lane, reported Tuesday that two unauthorized purchases were made using her bank card.

• Keith Dell, 800 block Smith Road, reported Monday that a female acquaintance struck him on the side of his head during an argument.

Dell had a purple scratch on the right side of his face, police said.

He told police that he did not want to press charges.

The officer later met with the woman, who denied hitting Dell.

 • Henry Sneed, 37, 1112 10th St. S.E., was charged Tuesday with driving while license withdrawn and too fast for conditions.

Doerun Police

• Phillip Walker, 31, 3542 Hwy. 133 N., was charged Tuesday with speeding, no insurance and failure to register vehicle.

• Curtis Morehead, 300 block Bear Creek Road, Norman Park, reported Tuesday that someone set fire to a box of papers and blankets on his back porch.

• Melissa Sparks reported Tuesday that while she was in downtown Moultrie that morning a man took a photo of her and followed her to the post office.

Moultrie Police

• Cocomo Inn, 1713 First Ave. S.E., reported Saturday that a male urinated on the sidewalk beside the office.

An employee told police that the man came into the office at about 12:21 a.m. and asked whether there was a public restroom inside. When told no he went on the sidewalk and drove away.

The employee had a tag number for the car and video from inside the office.

• Police investigated a report of a 12-year-old boy knocking on doors at about 3 a.m. Saturday at Ashton Crossing apartments, 3109 Veterans Parkway S.
