Janet Sheldon attends state literacy event

- MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Janet Sheldon, executive director of Colquitt County Family Connection, left, recently attended the Second Annual Governor’s Summit for Early Language and Literacy, held at Georgia College in Milledgeville. Pictured with her are Arianne Weldon, director of Get Georgia Reading; Ralph Smith, director of the National Grade Level Reading Campaign; and Jill O’Meara, director of the DECAL Georgia Birth of Eight Coalition. Gov. and Mrs. Nathan Deal were present both days and spoke about the importance of literacy and how it affects social and economic growth in the state. One of the featured speakers was author and football star Malcom Mitchell.
