Baldwin Players’ Tryouts for ‘Stop Thief’ on Aug. 27-28 at ABAC
TIFTON, Ga. — Auditions for the Baldwin Players’ fall production will be held Aug. 27-28 at 6:30 p.m. each night in Howard Auditorium at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Dr. Brian Ray, professor of English and theatre and the director of the Players, said roles are open for nine men and five women for the comedy, “Stop Thief.” “George P. Donaldson, who later became the ABAC president, directed the Baldwin Players in this play in 1933,” Ray said. “As a celebration of the 85-year heritage of the Baldwin Players and live theatre at ABAC, this play is being performed once again.” Ray said the play is a farce that centers on a family in the middle of preparing for the daughter’s wedding. In the frenzied story of activity, two crooks enter the house, causing much confusion and leading to mistaken identities and surprising revelations. Auditions are open to ABAC students, faculty, staff, and administrators as well as members of the community. No prior acting experience is required. “Stop Thief” will be performed in Howard Auditorium on Oct. 4-6. Interested persons can contact Ray for more information at 229-391-4969.
