ALBANY, Ga. — Mediacom Communications has been named the nation’s top cable company and internet service provider by a leading industry publication.

In its annual Telecoms Awards issue, TMT Magazine announced that Mediacom won the Best Cable Operator & ISP in the USA for 2018.

In 2016, Mediacom undertook an aggressive 3-year, $1 billion capital expenditure plan.  Headlining the company’s list of initiatives was “Project Gigabit,” the wide-scale deployment of 1 gigabit per second broadband services to virtually all of the 3 million homes and businesses within the 1,500 communities located in Mediacom’s 22 state footprint, according to a press release from the company.

“Project Gigabit had a profound impact in the markets Mediacom serves,” the company said.  “For instance, the company’s largest territory, Iowa, recently secured US News & World Report’s #1 overall state ranking based in large part on the fact that Mediacom’s network upgrades have allowed more Iowa households to have access to 1-Gig broadband than any other state in the country.”  

 In naming the company the nation’s Best Cable Operator & ISP for 2018, TMT Magazine recognized the work the 4,600 men and women of Mediacom have done to strengthen and energize cable systems in smaller cities and towns across the country, Mediacom’s press release said.
