- Dr. Felecia Moss resigned as Hamilton County High School's principal on Friday.
JASPER, Fla. — Hamilton County begins the new school year Monday. And Hamilton County High School will have a new leader.
Felecia Moss resigned as Hamilton County High School’s principal Friday.
According to Superintendent Rex Mitchell, Moss felt it was the right thing to do personally and professionally.
“Dr. Moss took this position for me last year and I am very appreciative that she would give me even a year,” Mitchell said. “It is a very difficult job and Dr. Moss has been in education for many, many years.”
He said being principal is a tough job and Moss came to the decision to step down.
While the Hamilton County School District searches for a new principal, Assistant Principal Marjorie Cooks will serve as interim principal.
“We feel very good about the start of school,” Mitchell said.”We are sad and disappointed to lose Dr. Moss but we are going to continue pushing the school forward.”
Moss was hired in June 2017 after Kip McLeod served as HCHS principal for four years.
She is a 1982 Hamilton County graduate.
