MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt Christian Academy returned to classes last week, coming off a summer in which it doubled its enrollment. The growth has sparked talks about getting its own separate building and more.
CCA’s enrollment has grown to 59 students, and officials say the current building doesn’t offer enough space.
Head of school Kelly Coyle was very candid about the school’s growth and development over the summer break.
“We had a really good summer,” said Coyle. “We were blessed with scholarship donations to our Golden Dome Scholarship Fund, and that allowed us to give more scholarships to students and we have doubled in size over the summer. Exciting things are happening here and I can’t wait for people to see the results.”
The first day of classes went smoothly, she said. CCA has mandatory family interviews for students who want to attend and the school held an open house two nights before school started, so parents were well informed of rules and procedures.
“It was smooth and was busy, but it was a good busy,” Coyle said. “Classes ran smoothly and teachers have been able to do what they do.”
Later in the school year, CCA plans to create more clubs and organizations for students to participate in, and as a member of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association, they want to make the jump in athletics also.
“Being a part of this growing trend of what are doing just the idea of being apart of a place that is continuing to break ground should be enough to get parents and students alike excited to be a part of this,” said Coyle.
