MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce will host a career fair on Wednesday Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Georgia Southwest Community Action Council.
The career fair is the second one this year as the chamber hosted one a few months ago with more than 30 local and national businesses in attendance looking for extra help.
Tommie Beth Willis, president of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce, said the event was such a success that they had to do it again.
“We had one this year earlier in the spring and it was very successful, and we are doing it again,” Willis said. “Part of our goal here at the chamber is workforce development and to provide an opportunity for people that are looking for jobs, to find one. This career fair is a great opportunity for people that are seeking employees and people that are seeking employment.”
The fair will allow job seekers a chance to apply for jobs, get feedback on resumes and may even get hired on the spot.
Here are three things to remember before arriving at the career fair: one, show up dressed for success; two, come prepared to fill out applications; and lastly, bring resumes.
As the community grows that means more job openings, and that is a good problem to have, according to Willis.
“We are excited to provide an opportunity for local businesses to expand,” she said. “The community continues to grow. We are seeing a lot of progress and new businesses beginning to open. Another thing that’s inspiring is local businesses that were already established are growing, and we are proud to see that.”
There are still slots available if you are a business interested in participating in the career fair. Contact the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber at 229-985-2131 to get on the list.
