MOULTRIE, Ga. — What is America’s best-loved book? Readers can help decide when they visit the Moultrie library, 225 S. Main St., Aug. 3-12 and check out the The Great American Read touring display developed in partnership by Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) and the Georgia Public Library System.

The Great American Read introduces readers to titles that have been named to the list of America’s 100 best-loved books, as chosen by the public and literary experts. The list was compiled through a special PBS survey.

In Georgia, the statewide public broadcasting network, GPB, is promoting the power of books through The Great American Read summer reading campaign and encouraging readers to vote for their favorite book from the list.

It’s all part of The Great American Read national multi-platform initiative that also includes social media and other digital resources.

When readers visit their local library’s The Great American Read touring display, they’ll learn how to vote for their favorite book from the list. They can also participate in fun activities like the “Booklist Personality Quiz,” based on figures taken from America’s 100 best-loved books, including Atticus Finch from “To Kill A Mockingbird,” Scarlett O’Hara from “Gone with the Wind,” or Celie from “The Color Purple.”

“We’re excited to have the Great American Read voting booth here in Moultrie,” said Library Director Holly Phillips. “We’ve enjoyed looking over the list of books and discussing which ones we’ve read, which ones we loved or didn’t love, and which ones we need to read next. This is a fun opportunity to be a part of a national conversation about the love of books.”
