MOULTRIE — State troopers from the Thomasville Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated eight traffic crashes during the month of July in Colquitt County.  

Sgt. 1st Class John VanLandingham said the traffic crashes resulted in one traffic death.

Ernest Lee Blackburn, 68, of Doerun, died in a head-on collision July 26 on Tallokas Road. The other driver was seriously injured.

In addition, a Colquitt County man, Jonathan Garcia, 27, died in a collision in Brooks County on July 4.

VanLandingham said troopers from Post 12 Thomasville also issued 51 traffic citations in Colquitt County during the month.  The total includes three arrests for driving under the influence, 10 citations for speeding, 25 seatbelt violations, and no child restraint violations.

Troopers also issued 91 warnings.
