Need more Rant and Rave

“We need a bigger Rant and Rave column. The big articles by Cokie Roberts and others are for liberals, progressives and never Trumpers. Some of us support our President, we need a voice also. It’s hard to make a full cohesive argument in 60 words but we try. I just despise all the current Anti-American sentiment and outrage.”

Excessive punishment

“Since when does passing out drinking straws rise to the level of criminal conduct?

“‘Excessive bail shall not be required…nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted,’ according to the 8th Amendment.

“Up to one year in jail for passing out biodegradable drinking straws sounds seriously excessive to me. A new Santa Barbara law does just that.”

Free speech

“The UGA Dean of the College of Journalism, Charles Davis, apologized for congratulating the Republican candidate for Governor Brian Kemp on his runoff victory and for calling Kemp a ‘nice guy.’

“Davis lost his right to free speech concerning his childhood friend. If a UGA Dean lost his free speech rights this easily, you can likewise lose yours.”

Subdivision

“I hope that the City Council doesn’t loose sight that Mr. Franklin’s proposed subdivision will add approximately $4 million dollars annually to the county tax digest.

“It’s great that he wants to develop the property, but I’ll bet if he faces too many roadblocks, he’ll walk away from it. There’s other opportunities out there without the headache.”
