MOULTRIE, Ga. — A 14-year-old Moultrie girl was arrested Monday after an elderly relative reported the girl injured her arm during a confrontation.
Carolyn Hobgood reported that when she returned with groceries to her residence in the 700 block of Second Avenue Southeast at about 4:43 p.m. she asked the girl’s boyfriend to help her bring them inside the residence. The girl screamed at Hobgood using vulgar language and asked why her boyfriend should help with the groceries.
Hobgood, 71, responded that the boy ate most of the food, so it was “the least he could do,” she told police. At that time the girl hit her in the arm.
The officer dispatched also noticed a broken ceramic decoration on the floor which Hobgood said her granddaughter broke while throwing things around the residence.
Moultrie police charged the girl with battery (family violence) and exploitation or intimidation of an elderly person.
The girl was taken to a state youth detention facility.
