SAN ANTONIO – Kellianne Howell was a junior level diver for the last time the week of July 21-27. Sky Geovanni turned his injury issues earlier this year into a major positive heading into the USA Diving Junior Nationals.
The two members of Moss Farms Diving Tigers went to the Lone Star State and the Northside Swim Center for the 2018 AAU Diving National Championships. They both won the platform (or tower) event in their respective age groups.
Howell went one-on-one in the Group A-plus Girls platform. In five dives, she bettered her rival by eight points (183.35).
During her senior year at Colquitt County High School, Howell signed with the University of Georgia diving team.
Geovanni had to deal with a broken hand in the spring and thus did not get to qualify for USA Junior Nationals in the two springboard events. His had has recovered, however, and he became a platform qualifier from the Zone B meet. He will be at the USA Diving Junior Nationals that began Sunday.
Along the way, in San Antonio, Geovanni went against 22 divers in the AAU Group A Boys platform and won first place with a score of 380.2.
There were 625 divers in all at the AAU Diving Nationals.
