Stay in School Rally set for July 28

More than 300 people attended the 2017 Stay in School Rally.

TIFTON, Ga. — The seventh Annual Mims Kids Stay in School Rally is scheduled for July 28 beginning at noon at the Tift County Recreation Department on Victory Drive.

The rally is for upcoming ninth through 12th graders and will focus on connecting kids with local resources that will help them become successful.

Coordinator M. Jay Hall said that the two featured speakers are both Tift County High School graduates who have successful careers.

One speaker is Mar’kevious Jamal Thomas, who graduated from TCHS in 2010 and is a Georgia State Patrol trooper first class, working at Post 50 which covers the state capital.

The other speaker is Angelina Jenkins, who graduated from TCHS in 2006 and is a registered cardiovascular invasive specialist.

Hall said there will be giveaways and prizes for everyone as well as a bouncy house for younger kids.

“It speaks volumes to have something going strong for seven years and to have continued community support,” Hall said.

He added that he felt blessed to be able to continue hosting the event and keep it going.

Hall said he wanted to thank all of the sponsors who donated for the event.

“It shows us just how much Tift County can come together for a good cause,” he said.
