MOULTRIE, Ga. — The City of Moultrie was one of four finalists for the 2018 Health Value Award presented recently at the World Health Care Congress.
City Manager Pete Dillard said the city saved $1 million in claims between 2016 and 2017 through an emphasis on illness prevention, diet and exercise. City employees lost a collective 1,000 pounds in 2017 due to employee health initiatives. The city no longer hires tobacco users and offers smoking cessation classes to current employees. And the insurance program set up by Hutchinson Traylor Insurance helped the city get better pricing while using local providers and pharmacies.
