THOMASVILLE — A 58-year-old Thomasville woman is being treated for critical injuries suffered when a pickup truck ran over her early Thursday evening, according to reports.
The woman was walking north on Wright Street, said Sgt. 1st Class John VanLandingham, commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 12 in Thomasville.
Curtis Butler, 72, 327 W. Jerger St., was driving a 2008 Ford Super Duty when he turned right from Fern Street onto Wright.
When Butler made the turn, he apparently did not see the woman and ran over her, VanLandingham said.
“She has critical injuries,” VanLandingham said.
The victim, who is being treated at Archbold Memorial Hospital, was pinned under the truck in the 6:01 p.m. incident.
“She was apparently under the influence of alcohol,” the GSP commander said. “It was apparent Butler had been drinking. There were open containers in the vehicle.”
Butler is charged with driving under the influence, pending blood test results, expired driver license, open container and serious injury by motor vehicle.
“He had alcohol in his system,” VanLandingham said.
