Dear Editor,

The time has come for me to choose a new direction. I have been the executive director of United Way of Colquitt County for the past 22 years. This has been an extremely rewarding job because of the people of this community. I have had the privilege of working with the very best of Moultrie and Colquitt County. These are the men and women who work to make our community a better place for our children, our seniors, our families and those who just need a little help.

The leadership of our United Way is and has been a great group of men and women who have helped mentor me and who have given of their talents to this community. I want to thank every person who has served on the United Way board, our allocation panels, and the many, many volunteers who have raised money for our United Way. It has been a privilege to work for you and with you over the years.

I also want to thank each donor who has helped provide resources for programs that improve the health, education, and financial stability of our county. Throughout the last 22 years you have provided support for many programs that have impacted the lives of thousands of people in Colquitt County. Our United Way is in the top ten percent of similarly sized United Ways in the United States.  This is because we have such a giving community!

I now turn the reins over to Caroline Horne who I’m sure you will welcome, support, and embrace as the new executive director of United Way of Colquitt County.  I am confident that United Way will prosper under her leadership.
