MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County woman died on Wednesday night as the result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies and paramedics were dispatched at about 9:15 p.m. to the residence of Robin Roberts Valentino in the 400 block of Doc Darbyshire Road, according to Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Valentino was not responsive when they arrived, and she was declared dead at the scene, the reports said.

Valentino, 57, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock said. The gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The death in that manner was the fourth for a woman in a three-month period, according to coroner’s records. Such events where a woman is the victim occurring over such a short time period is highly unusual, Brock said.
